I had a medical procedure/small surgery a week and a half prior. I went to Alicia’s class hoping it would relieve some of my discomfort. The poses promoted rest and helped with the pain. Alicia found ways to modify and adapt poses with other props to fit the needs of my body and help me relax.

I was at a loss for words with the one legged balance pose because I struggled sooooooooooooo much after having surgery on my knee last summer. I have to admit, I felt helpless for such a long time because the pain was a reminder of how I would never be 100% again. Alicia’s restorative class is a must. I walk into the class with stress from the top of my head to the tips of my toes, but by the second pose, relaxation seeps into every nook and cranny. I re-enter the hectic world but retain my relaxed state of being for days.

Restorative Yoga Rocks!!! I had been to regular yoga classes, but never attended a restorative yoga class. I feel like this class was worth it’s weight in gold. I left class feeling completely refreshed and ready to tackle my week. I really liked that Alicia made accommodations for those of us who have injuries or difficulty with certain positions. Well worth it if you are looking for an alternative stress reducing type of yoga class.

Both my orthopedist and physical therapist suggested that I take restorative yoga to complement the treatment they were providing for my shoulders, knees, upper and lower back. I was initially concerned about my ability to sustain yoga poses for 15 minutes in Alicia’s 2-hour class, but after the first class, I knew I was in the “right place” as Alicia’s personal attention ensures that everyone gets a good stretch without experiencing any discomfort. The best way to describe Alicia’s class is to compare it to a spa getaway: relaxing, refreshing, revitalizing and fun, too!

Alicia has the ability to teach something that many people ignore… And that is a general awareness about how your mind, emotions, and body connect. Slowly, I’ve begun to really gain an awareness of how my body works when I pay attention versus when I go about my day on autopilot. I haven’t learned that from any traditional doctor I have seen to address aches and pains. Alicia provides gentle reminders of how important self care is during every session/class. In addition, there is no way to describe the sense of peace and restfulness I feel after a session…and that keeps me going back for more!!

Alicia’s workshop felt more personalized than other restorative yoga classes I’ve taken. The props were perfectly set up. It was like a private class in a small group atmosphere. There was also a great balance of talk/explanation and stillness/silence. After the workshop, I felt relaxed and calm; a lot of my habitual muscle tension felt to have fallen away, too.
